The Black Keys might have already released a new video this week, but the one they just released for Howlin’ For You easily takes the cake. Directed by Chris Marrs Pillero, the video featuring Todd Bridges (or “Sir Todd Bridges”), Tricia Helfer, Corbin Bernsen, Diora Baird, Sean Patrick Flanery, Christian Serratos and even Shaun White, reminds me of something that would have aired as a fake trailer during Grindhouse… which I’m pretty sure is what they were aiming for. What boggles me though is that it’s actually linked on IMDB, so I don’t know if it’s just a marketing trick to make it seems like it’s the next Machete, but yeah, if The Black Keys are in the final version of it, count me in.
“Alexa Wolff, a sexy assassin with a troubled past, unknowingly falls in love with the man who killed her father. He is not her first love, though. Two other men came before. But they would not have her. Now, all grown up with an appetite for revenge, Alexa’s leaving a trail of bloody corpses and broken hearts in her wake.”
seems like every video links are being taken down… you can head to IMDB to watch it.

From their critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated album, Brothers, comes the visual interpretation for their latest single, Too Afraid To Love You. To be honest, I wasn’t really sure about Brothers at first, but it’s the kind of album that just sink in with you after multiple repeats which you also never get bored of. You should definitely grab a copy if you haven’t already.

Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Alright, I’ll get this one out of the way right from the start as it’s probably no surprise to anyone that Kanye’s latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy made the list of my favorite album of the year or probably the lists of pretty much everyone else.
From its opening song, Dark Fantasy, to its closing moments with the monologue of Gil-Scott Heron, the album is nothing short of spectacular. It’s the kind of album that pulls you in and that no matter at which song you start; whenever if it’s Hell of a Life or Gorgeous, I’ve always found myself listening to more than just that initial song, if not the whole album and no matter how many times I’ve listened it from beginning to end, I have yet to be bored of it. I’m actually finding myself wanting more everytime I give My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a spin and that is why it made the list of my favorite albums of the year.
Alot of people are actually surprised to see Kanye’s album at the top of so many lists, I’m not sure if it’s just a case of haters going to hate, or people just not liking the product. To be honest, while I do like the album for its content, I am far more impressed by what the album actually represent to Kanye’s career. With it, he finally achieved what he’s been trying to tell us for awhile now, he proved that he successfully made the transition of being a simple rapper of the Chi to this ‘artist’ named Kanye West. The thing is with albums like this though, is that they are very hard to follow through… Only time will tell if Kanye will be able to recapture the magic in a couple of years, but no matter what happens, the thirteen songs he offered us with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will forever be timeless.

So apparently the videos of The Black Keys with the little swaggerish black dinosaur is deemed unofficial as, The Black Keys came out with the real one for Tighten Up… Which is a song that can be found on their latest album, Brothers. And while this video is pretty good, I somewhat miss Frank the little black dinosaur.

Wait, there was a video for Tighten Up already? Arg, I completely missed it, but you can catch it on Youtube I guess. Anyway, both of the videos features a protagonist in the shape of a little black dinosaur named Frank that not only sings the song, or at least lip-sync it, but is also showing alot of swag and game. It also features funny commentaries at the bottom of the video adding a little something something to the video itself which was directed by Chris Marrs Piliero.
Brothers , their next album, is dropping on May 18th via Nonesuch Records, but has already been leaked and I have to tell you, it’s fire from beginning to end.
… still can’t believe I missed the Tighten Up video bleh.

The Black Keys were offering two songs of their upcoming album as a token of appreciation to everyone who was buying pre-sale tickets via their website and Next Girl was one of them, which makes it the second peek we get from Brothers as the Dangermouse produced song, Tighten Up, already made it’s way on the internet a few weeks back.
Brothers is set to officially hit the streets on May 18 which can also be pre-ordered right here.

Akron native, Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney are some busy dudes… with the release of the album of their side project with Dame Dash, Blakroc, they announced that an album for The Black Keys was also in the work. Well here’s the first peek of it with Tighten Up. Produced by none other than Danger Mouse, I wonder how the song will fare against the rest of the album, as it’s the only one produced by Danger Mouse. Brothers is set to release on May 18th.

Damon Dash is officially back in the music business. XXLMag.com has learned that the Roc-A-Fella co-founder has formed his own, new independent label to release a rap/rock album between The Black Keys and a slew of hip-hop artists, including Mos Def, Jim Jones, Q-Tip, Ludacris and more.
It also features appearances by Raekwon, RZA, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, among others. Set for a release on the day after Thanksgiving, otherwise known as Black Friday in the world of retail, the disc will be on a new label started by Dash and the Keys.
