Who would have thought that Travis McCoy little cousin would become what he is today? Not me that’s for sure… especially when he linked up with Young Money I was really doubting that he would ever succeed at getting out of Drake, Minaj and Weezy’s shadow especially this early in his career, but I guess that I was wrong as his mass appeal created a shadow of his own. He dropped a couple of mixtapes since he came up, but here’s Really Raw, the first official single of his upcoming debut album Careless World.

Alright, Dre’s comeback single, Kush, is starting to grow on me a little. Yeah, I said it, BUT it still has Akon on the hook which is something that was clearly not needed. And for a song that was leaked without any pretentions, the popularity that it gained on the internet upon the release forced Dre’s hand to give it the official video treatment and official lead single status.
Oh and is it me or did Dre gained some mass since the last time we saw him? Or maybe it’s just because of the fact that he’s standing next to Snoop Dogg in most of the video.

Enlisting the help of Snoop Dogg and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, the animated collective known as the Gorillaz unleashed the official video for their latest single, Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach which is off their recent album Plastic Beach. The video is also part of the Gorillaz Christmas initiative, where the bunch are set to offer goodies to their fans every day of December until Christmas… I guess that a video featuring Snoop Dogg in an oufit straight out of the Master & Commander is one of them.

Dre initially said that Kush would definitely not become a single, but he rapidly changed tuned after seeing the noteworthy buzz and success the song amassed upon release, he is now saying that it could be a single after all. Anyway, former Aftermath member, Game, took a little time off his European tour to drop a brand new verse on the now comeback single of Dre that everyone had been waiting for probably the same amount of time that gamers has been waiting for Duke Nukem Forever.

As much as Snoop Dogg always found a way to stay at the top of his game or at least stay relevant for others, I gotta say that I strongly believe that his new single, Wet, might be a mistep in terms of keeping himself fresh. I mean, auto-tune? really? The song is going to be featured on his upcoming album, Doggumentary Music set to be released somewhere in March of next year.

I’m not even going to pretend and say that I’m eagerly awaiting Dre’s vaporalbum Detox anymore, I mean at this rate, the album might get released when my future kids will start attending college and even that is a big maybe. Anyway, he released the [apparently] lead single of his much delayed album enlisting the help of Snoop Dogg and Akon.
To be honest, what Dre needs right now, is less Akon and more Hov ghostwriting… there I said it.

As you may already know, I am not one for posting remixes in here… there has been a couple of exceptions here and there and this Passion Pit remix of Katy Perry single, California Gurls is one. I’ve always had my reasons to post remixes, mostly because I thought they sounded better than the original or just plain good, and this one is a mix of the two. I mean, to be quite honest, I don’t really hold Katy Perry’s original version of California Gurls very high up and Passion Pit taking a spin on it is a welcome change for me as they definitely made it more listenable.
With that said, I am off packing boxes as not only is this my first week of vacation, but I will be moving to a new place at the end of the week, so yeah, I might not be that active during a few days.

Okay, well… I’m not really feeling the lead single of Katy Perry forthcoming album, California Gurls is a little bit too candy pop for me and not driven enough, but I guess that it’s these things that labels it to be such a summer jam and I guess that music executives will force it down people’s throat enough to assure it to also be a major hit throughout the summer… and what to say about the Snoop feature? yeah… let’s just say that it feels extra forced.
Anyway, as much as I don’t really like the song, I can totally mute the sound of the video and just watch it Katy Perry. I mean it is Katy Perry after all… And I have to say that the other song that was leaked of her upcoming album was much better, so I hope the album will be more like that and less like this.

Katy Perry’s new song, California Gurls is apparently the west coast version of Hov’s Empire State of Mind, where that one was an ode to the big apple, NYC while this one is a tribute to the sun and beaches of California. Featuring Snoop Dogg it will be leading the charge as the first single of her upcoming album. I can already predict summer airwaves to be filled of this song even if it doesn’t grab me as much as the singles of her last album did, but I can definitely smell it’s mainstream value.

Here’s the visuals for the Snoop & CuDi’s collaboration, That Tree. Not much to say except that it’s a pretty dope video!
At first sight, Snoop Dogg and CuDi might not have alot of things in common, but when you think about it, both Snoop Dogg & CuDi been doing their thing and not giving a damn about them critics, while their style might be far from similar, I think the main difference is that Snoop Dogg has been there and done that while CuDi is still at the early stage of his career, but I’m pretty sure they will be meeting in the middle as I predict CuDi will become a pillar to the game has much as Snoop was for his generation in his own unique way.
