Video: Ronnie Brown – Lights, Cameras, Action

Lo-fi, independent art is always more appealing to those who have a scent for talent.

Elliott Smith’s self-titledĀ couldn’t album be less in your face, but his proficiency at making even a weathered man want to cry is undeniable; El Mariachi, being paid for with the money out of Robert Rodriguez’s pocket, bleeds talent. These are the kind of works of art that deserve every bit of appreciation from their fanbase.

“Lights, Cameras, Action” gets its sun-bleached video treatment which isn’t much new in concept, but in quality it’s kind of fascinating. The vimeo page credits him as the director, and another dude for “shooting with a macbook”. So these guys literally just jumped around in an alleyway, one of them holding a laptop and throwing it around like a video camera. It sounds silly to describe, but it’s pretty fun to see done on his level. This is something we can definitely appreciate.

Mp3: Ronnie Brown – Cheat On Your Man x Lights, Camera, Action

Ronnie Brown

When you run a music blog, you get to receive alot of emails of people that wants you to put their music on your website, may it be labels or independant artists, everyone wants their 15 seconds. And as much as I’m all for supporting emerging artists, I have to say that I do a selection to what kind of music I put on my website, and sometimes, it’s either that the quality of it is just not quite it or the music is just not my cup of tea or just too similar to everything else on the market, as it’s just doesn’t stand out of the lot. It could also just be me being too lazy though, so don’t go around thinking your music sucks if you sent it and I didn’t post it, because yeah… sometimes I’m just plain lazy, just ask around.

So yeah, here’s one emerging artist who sent me his music which did not leave me indifferent. Hailing from Chi town, Ronnie Brown is… well not very well known (especially since he’s sharing his name with a NFL player) as it was even a pain in the ass to find his official myspace page, which I have to say did not even find at all. So here you have it, new music to your ears and a new name to remember so you can tell all your friends you were already holding him down before he got famous, if he ever get to that status, but with the correct grind, I’m pretty sure that it’s just a matter of time.
