Not only has The Roots been playing on the Jimmy Fallon Late Night for every single day of the week for the past year, but they’ve been pretty busy working on a new album. Entitled How I Got Over, the album is their 9th studio album, but 11th overall since 1987. It was said to release on Feburary 2010, but was then pushed back to June 8th, only to be officially dated via Okayplayer for June 22nd.
Dear God 2.0 is the second song released of How I Got Over, the title track [How I Got Over] being the first one, and is basically a reimagination of Monsters of Folk song of the same name. An odd collaboration that was probably made possible via the Late Night itself as not only does it boost their mainstream credentials, but they get to meet all sorts of artists throughout the show.
Speaking of that new found mainstream attention, I wonder how it will translate into record sales…
How I Got Over will be arriving in stores on June 22nd.

Indie supergroup Monsters of Folk released their first official video for their lead single Say Please off their self-titled debut album, mixing vintage World War 2 uniforms and roller skates together.

Monsters of Folk was the musical guest of Conan O’brien yesterday where they performed Say Please, all suited-up – ties and sunglasses included – for the occasion.
They also released a new video for The Right Place showing their recording studio featuring everyone’s favorite garden accessory, garden gnomes. Is it me or does Conor with facial hair looks alot like Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) in Heroes?

Here’s two new songs of indie-folk supergroup Monsters Of Folk which is consisted of Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and M. Ward of She & Him (and his solo career, as he’s more known for it than She & Him …). The songs are nothing too off the beaten path, but then again, why try to fix something that isn’t broken?

Monsters of Folk is the indie supergroup counterpart of what Slaughterhouse is right now to hip-hop. Composed of Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and M. Ward who is more known for his solo career, but yeah, that’s the bloke who’s singing with Zooey Deschanel (She & Him). They released their first single Say Please, free to download, on their website on friday. Their self-titled debut album is set to release on September 22.
