Seems like Emily Haines and her band, Metric, are the go-to people when it comes to soundtracks these days as they appeared on many soundtracks in the course of the recent years including the latest Twilight OST with All Yours. They were approached again by the man to contribute to the Scott Pilgrim vs The World soundtrack. A song titled Black Sheep was then crafted for the movie, which I just heard today as they released the visual counterpart of it, as I do not really scour the whole soundtrack scene minor few exceptions. Enjoy.

Have you seen the third movie in the Twilight Saga since it came out? I sure didn’t, but I will probably end up renting in when it comes out at my video store just to see how the story ends and whatever… no-homo, not that I like it or whatever (far from it) but since I was dragged to the movie theater to watch the first one and had to rent the second one, I just want some closure with the story ahah. Anyway, here’s the official footage for Canadian band, Metric, contribution to the movie soundtrack featuring a footage of the cast of the movie mixed with Emily Haines being all Twilight walking around in the woods.

Canadian band and led by the ever beautiful Emily Haines, Metric released a spanking new video for their latest single Stadium Love of their recent album, Fantasies, which, to be honest, didn’t think would come this fast especially as their prior single was released like a month ago or so if I remember correctly… What surprises me even more is the fact that another single is on the way with the release of their contribution to the soundtrack of the next Twilight, which should be coming out on June 8th.

As my first news of the day, I’m kicking in with Metric’s new music video ”Gold Guns Girls”. The song has already made some serious exposure on Entourage, Grey’s Anatomy, in Zombieland and in the video game Fifa 10.
Also, fellow Montrealers, if you missed them at La Récréathèque of Laval a couple of weeks back or if you just want to see them again, they will be playing Montreal on August 1st! So make sure to get tickets!
worth mentionning : The xx – Islands, Metric – Help I’m Alive, Empire of the Sun – Standing On The Shore, Japandroids – Young Hearts Spark Fire, Camera Obscura – French Navy, La Roux – Bulletproof, Florence + The Machine – You’ve Got The Love

So we’re already six months in 2009 and well into the seventh … here’s a little shortlist of what I thought best of what was released so far (in no particular order). I know Top 30 might seems like an odd number, but I just wrote down songs off the top of my head and it ended up around 28, so i added 2 more to reach 30. You might also notice that I play around with the release dates of the songs, some of them leaked in 2008 and are still on the list, because they were officially released in 2009 and so on … anyway, here it is in no particular order.

Metric’s witty and clever new music video for their single, Gimme Sympathy, from the album Fantasies, to be released on April 14. Supposedly filmed at the Sound Academy in Toronto, Ontario (Emily enters from the backstage area).

I gave a full listen to Metric’s upcoming album Fantasies, and will probably give it another one, and another one while I’m at work tomorrow. Their sound seems more refined than their previous albums, somewhat more accessible, but that Metric raw essence is still flowing throughout the 10 tracks of the album.
The four years between their last album and this one were way too long, but if it’s what was needed for them to drop top notch quality music like what’s on on Fantasies … I’m willing to wait another four years for their next album.
Fantasies is set to officially drops in a month. April 14 to be precise.
