Love Out of Lust, the newest excerpt of Lykke Li’s upcoming album, Wounded Rhymes is also apparently her favorite cut of the album, which is definitely saying much especially after the remarkable singles she previously released with I Follow Rivers and Get Some.

Launching the second single, ‘I Follow Rivers’, from her latest album entitled ‘Wounded Rhymes’, the enigmatic Swedish indie singer/songwriter Lykke Li returns with her trademark ethereal sound. Directed by Tarik Saleh, the new clip for the single follows her across an epic landscape in an eerie snow-fallen forest on the island of Gotland near her homeland of Sweden to breathtaking effect.

Okaaaaaaay, here we go again for a brand new year! I took a little time off during the holidays to decompress and everything (I will probably cook up a long ass post talking about last year and what’s to come, like I usually do), but the break’s over and I am back on my #nodaysoff grind.

First stop of 2011 begins with the newest single of Lykke Li, I Follow Rivers, that is going to be featured on her forthcoming sophomore studio album, Wounded Rhymes. The song itself sounds a little bit closer to what she is known to do, so if you were not exactly a fan of the musical direction she seemed to take with her previous single, Get Some, this might do it for you.

Wounded Rhymes is currently set to be released on March 1st via LL Recordings, her very own label.

Lykke Li’s latest single, Get Some, got the Mike D treatment as he remixed the song to his image. Another remix of this song surfaced a couple days ago, but was helmed by Beck. The version that found it’s way to the internet was apparently not the correct one though, so I’ll wait until for the official one before posting it up.

Some of us have been waiting a long damn time for some new Lykke. It’s time to rejoice, friends. If you really need any kind of validation for listening to Lykke Li at this point, I guess you can check her videos covering Weezy’s “A Milli” or Rick Ross (the bawse)’s “Hustlin’“. But really, these don’t define her in any way – they just might make you crush harder though. It’s her songs lacking any percussion, minimal and painfully sweet, that have helped her become the blogworld sweetheart.

Her new material here, from a free EP that she’s just put up, Get Some/Paris Blue, relies on elements from both sides of the artist – her love of beat-driven music and her ability to make inescapable melodies without actually doing all that much. You can bet that Kanye wishes he had a song with her right now. Has Sweden ever given us a bad artist?

update : here’s the actual video, not the fan-made one we had earlier. This one is a total throwback to Smashing Pumpkins’ “Ava Adore” video – which doesn’t matter if you like or not, because old Smashing Pumpkins were awesome. Anyway, Lykke, can I get some?

Here’s the official videoclip for the song that Lykke Li contributed for the indie filled New Moon soundtrack… Yeah, that movie with the vampires, you’ve probably heard of it. It’s really confusing me how a movie like Twilight that mainly has an audience of little girls fantasizing on vampires can have such a decent soundtrack, or at least artists attached to the project that I would not depict as vampire lovers…
