This Lady Gaga song actually came out exactly at the same time that Bad Romance first did for The Fame Monster, so it’s a little surprise that she actually decided to make it a single after all this time. On a side note, she seems to be making all of her videos into short films with Telephone and now with this Steve Klein directed video and as you might expect it, the video stay true to GaGa’s sense of bizarre and unique sense of style.

Well this Bad Romance of Lady GaGa cover was released a little while ago, I remember seeing it on on PMA in early April or something, but I have no real good reason of why I didn’t post it earlier except for my own lazyness… and yeah, I stumbled on a video of her performing a live rendition the cover on her Youtube account which prompted my envy to actually post the whole thing on the blog after all… Better late than never right?
Lissie is an emerging artist from Rock Island, Illinois who received nods and high-fives by Filter, Nylon and many more for her debut EP Why You Runnin’ that was released late last year. She is currently gearing up for the release of her debut album, Catching a Tiger which has, In Sleep, her debut single, which is being on rotation of selected radios as we speak.
Even with all the acclaims she gathered, she was flying a little bit under my radar, but it definitly made a blip with her beautiful rendition of Bad Romance which was probably one of the best move she could have made prior to her debut album release, marketing wise as it really brings a different audience to your music, which is exactly what happened here.
Catching a Tiger is set to be released on June 21st.

This new GaGa song was one she’s been performing on her recent tour, but it never made the studio until now. If you guys must know [or already do] GaGa is one of my favorite pop artist right now and this song is a reason why she is. It reminds me of her Poker Face acoustic rendition that spawned CuDi’s Make Her Say, it just shows everyone that she is not only someone that dress herself up in fucked up Kermit the Frog costumes or overly use autotune.

Hayley Williams, the redhead cutie frontwoman of Paramore went ahead and recorded herself singing a small portion of Lady GaGa’s song Bad Romance. Say what you want about Paramore, but Hayley definitely has some wind pipes.

Pomplamoose take upon GaGa’s latest single, Telephone, litterally transforming the song by adding their unique touch to the mix. If you don’t know Pomplamoose is, read the following text below…
“If you’re disenchanted with the current music industry, if you’re tired of indie going slick and mass-produced Top 40 pop where every new musician looks like they’re from Laguna Beach, then look no farther than YouTube for your new favourite thing.
A grassroots multi-musical project of various fascinating layers, Pomplamoose is what happened when two YouTube musicians, Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte, joined forces. Similar to the one-man-show tradition of musicians like Beirut, Pomplamoose is a one-man-one-woman band that combines the talents of Dawn and her boyfriend Conte.
Dawn’s style brings to mind Carla Bruni’s sunshiney adorableness mixed with the vocals of Leslie Feist and Regina Spektor. Conte, on the other hand, draws the obvious comparison to Thom Yorke of Radiohead, as well as a little of the melodramatic howls of Muse (without the excessive flourish) and the melodic spite of Brandon Boyd of Incubus without the rock-hard abs (I’m just kidding, Jack. I’m sure your abs are rock-hard too).
What sets Pomplamoose apart from their influences is the fact that they do all of their own stunts. That is, every instrument you hear on their tracks, from drums to the piano to the xylophone to the accordion to the finger sliding along the edges of a wineglass, was produced by Conte and Dawn themselves and then multi-tracked and mixed for your listening pleasure.
Their music videos showcase the amount of work (and fun) that goes into making your own music by adopting a new medium known as the “VideoSong”. VideoSongs follow two simple rules:
What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice), and if you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).
Pomplamoose’s VideoSongs can be found on YouTube along with other traditional music videos, but there’s something so amazing and endearing about watching musicians create an organic sound without the heavy hand of a producer or record label. At first glance, Pamplemoose is just a couple of musicians from San Francisco making unique VideoSongs for a generation of YouTubers; but their music is actually quite brilliant.
Individually, both Conte and Dawn shine with their own VideoSongs or YouTube videos showcasing their specific talent. Dawn’s folksy-poetic and insightful “The Big Idea” was recorded in her friend’s outdoor garden (watch her at the end when she swats at the bugs that have been biting her while she was recording), and “The Happy Song” (which instantly brings to mind Carla Bruni) was written and recorded in roughly an hour. Conte’s videos are primarily VideoSongs, of which the best is probably “Lonely Ghost”. Conte also makes some bad-ass musical mashups, such as an Aphex Twin/Bright Eyes mashup and a Chopin/Radiohead mashup, which fuses Radiohead’s “Exit Music for a Film” with Chopin’s Op. 28, no. 4.
The combination of these talents is an amazing new band that blends sweet snappiness with the complexity of a much larger band.
So far, Pomplamoose is still somewhat obscure but has procured a small, yet intense fan base of fellow YouTubers. All it will take is the acknowledgement and approval of the Converse-wearing set and their fame catapult them into ubiquity.”

Weeeeeell, the awaited visuals for the second GaGa & Beyonce collaboration, Telephone, is about to hit the internet in a few minutes, but my friends over IndecentXposure apparently got it before, I don’t know how, don’t know why, but I am totally stealing it and posting it over here ahah. The video plays as a short film, clocking in to a little bit more than 9 minutes and a half featuring ALOT of GaGa’s skin and multiples tv shows/movies references including the like of Dexter, Kill Bill & Thelma & Louise resulting in a dope video all around… the production value is definitely there and they actually adress the whole GaGa’s penis rumour/incident?… I mean that right there definitely makes it worth watching lol.

So yesterday, it was the 52nd annual Grammy Awards… things happened and prizes were giving out, but most of all performances occured, some better than others, so if you missed out on them, here’s your chances to catch a handful that I thought were pretty good.
Lil Wayne – Drop The World ft. Eminem / Drake – Forever ft. Lil Wayne, Eminem & Travis Barker
First and foremost, here’s the Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake performance with Travis Barker on the drums, performing Drop The World and Forever without Kanye West who apparently didn’t attend this year edition due to the fact that he wasn’t going to win anything. This is also the uncensored version as the televised CBS version had fucked up censorship that had 5 muted seconds everytime they thought a swear word was coming up.
Lady Gaga & Elthon John
Lady GaGa’s performance was probably the most theatrical performance of the night as some black dude made sure that we knew by the end of the night that Lady GaGa was a monster and had no soul… and yeah, I’m not even going to go into the whole Illuminati business, because it always end up in some rabbit hole bullshit.
Michael Jackson Tribute
And the Grammys would have not been complete without the proper Michael Jackson tribute. Artists like Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and more were all gathered together to perform Earth Song. The video showed on the screen on stage was actually 3D and the crowd was given out 3d glasses to see it in it’s full fledged glory.
You can also see at 4 minutes 22 that Will.I.Am was very disappointed that the whole audience was jacking his fashion statement as he was wearing a pair of his own (3D glasses) just for the looks.

What else than the infectious Tik Tok of Ke$ha to start off the list of Above and Beyond biggest guilty pleasure of the year? Lead single of her debut album, Animal, it really was the only thing needed to propulse Ke$ha into super stardom as the song broke the record for highest digital download with 610,000 by a female artist since the tracking began back in 2003.
I’ve always liked Lady GaGa, but you know… it’s Lady GaGa, I had a short sigh of relief when she announced that she was going to tour with Kanye West (which was then cancelled) because I thought that maybe some people would start seeing her as a real artist than just… Lady GaGa. Yes, she does not help herself dressing up like Kermit The Frog, but under the layers of green skin lies a talented artist who can craft songs that pops like bubblegums.
I mean, come on, the cover of Journey’s hit song, Don’t Stop Believin’ is brilliant, much like every other songs they redo on the tv show for that matter.
While I like what T-Pain usually does, I’m never really INTO what he does, I never disliked a song that he featured on and I listened to a couple of his singles, but that’s pretty much it. I mean how cheesy can you be by making a song that ask girls to take their shirts off? But I’ll admit that the song definitely works ahah, I mean girls taking their shirts off! COME ON.
Right? RIGHT? ahah, I’ll go ahead and say it out loud, I am facebook/google stalking every chances I get. Sue me… wait, can you actually get sued for that? Alright, not every chances I get, but most of the time…

While I thought the original video for the opening track of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, was fairly decent, I litterally fell in love with Sarah Newhouse’s take of the song. She basically mashed up several scenes of some 80s movies (The Breakfast Club, Footloose, Pretty In Pink, Mannequin) making it almost seems like the scenes were made with Lisztomania in mind and just waited for Phoenix to just release it …
Nyle is an emerging emcee hailing from Brooklyn, New York and he really made his name with this video. It started as a school project that he had to do which he picked to perform his take of Lil Wayne track, Let The Beat Build, with live instruments and in one take. Which became the big selling point of the video when it surfaced on the internet. He was even invited on Alexa Chung as an aftermath of his new found popularity.
Minimalist aesthetic was definitely the name of the game for the video of CuDi’s lead single off his debut album. I think that it really set the vibe of what we had to expect from KiD CuDi album as the visuals are far from what we normally expect from rappers. No chains, no rims, no half-naked bitches, just great cinematography. It felt alot like an indie film vs a summer blockbuster. While I’m not saying that I’m not into ‘summer blockbusters’ as they definitely hold their appeal with explosions and shiny stuff, it’s good to have something different once in a while.
While this was the first single off Passion Pit debut album, it was really the second video that I had seen of them… The first one was actually To Kingdom Come where it visuals really impressed me. So I decided to backtrack through their library of very … few videos and stumbled on the one for The Reeling. An incredible video where the gritty quality and rip/tear style almost made me feel like I was watching the intro video of a gang in The Warriors.
Visually stunning and always challenging me to find all the reference movies every single time that I watch it, Dan Black really did the right decision to hire up Paris studio Chic & Artistic for the making of his video as I don’t see how it could have been anything better.
Natasha Khan videos always gave me the creeps, not as being afraid per se, but there’s always something odd and unsettling in each of her videos. It was no different for Daniel, where she replace bicycle riding bunnies by some odd looking touchy dancers that she has to fight off as the whole video is a big ode to the Karate Kid movie.
This video was possibly the most daring video I’ve seen in 2009, as Matt & Kim are allegedly really naked (and really got into troubles with the police). No matter how many times I watch it, I’m always as stunned when they start taking their clothes off in a cold February weather as surprised at the fact that they made it alive stealing the whole naked stunt in the Naked Cowboy territory… I mean that guy is a cowboy for godsake.
Ross Ching was a regular unemployed guy and as unemployement go, well let’s say that he had alot of time on his hands. Free time that he put to good use by creating a fan video for Death Cab For Cutie song, Little Bribes. Not only amazing, but the video was actually picked up by DCFC to become the official video of the song. I’m pretty sure he’s not unemployed anymore.
Here’s another fan video to hit up the list with Gabe Askew view on Grizzly Bear’s song Two Weeks. While the original version of the video was pretty good, Askew visuals and storytelling were really what made his video stand out for me.
Jack White newest side project, The Dead Weather, lead single was pretty good, but it’s really the video that nailed it for me. I wasn’t sure where the whole thing was going at first, as the only thing they do at the beginning is walking in an unbuilt suburbia housing lot, but my patience was rewarded as they start shooting each other in the face for the rest of the video, making it the baddest motherfracker video of the year.
worth mentioning : Chairlift – Evident Utensil, Coldplay – Life In Technicolor II, The xx – Crystalised, Handsome Furs – I’m Confused, Lady GaGa – Bad Romance, Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck – Heaven Can Wait.

Here’s a new GaGa track in collab, once again with Darkchild, but not only does he produced the song, but he also dropped a verse, which is a ‘rap’ verse none the less.
