Nas & Damian Marley

Yesterday we had the pleasure to witness the release of the visuals for Nas & Damian Marley official first single, As We Enter, which will be featured on their upcoming debut album, Distant Relatives. And today, well, another leak made it’s way to the internet in the form of a song named Africa Must Wake Up featuring none other than Canadian artist K’Naan. This collaborative project looks doper by the minutes. Distant Relatives is due to release on May 18th.

Video/Mp3: K’Naan – Wavin’ Flag

K'Naan

Well if this song does not put K’Naan on the map, I don’t know what will. I mean, not only is this the theme song of FIFA World Cup 2010, but it’s also the third variation of the visuals for the songs. First one was the official reworked version for the FIFA World Cup with Spanish popstar David Bismal, second one was the Coca-Cola commisioned Celebration mix version of the song, and well this is the version that can be found on his latest album Troubadour.

Video/Mp3: K’Naan – Wavin’ Flag (Celebration Mix)

K'Naan

Here’s the visuals for K’Naan’s Wavin’ Flag Celebration mix directed by Nabil Elderkin (the same guy that did Kanye’s Coldest Winter). Canadian K’Naan’s original song of his 2009 album, Troubadour was picked to be the official theme of the 2010 FIFA World Cup which a reworked version came out a month ago with a cheesy as hell video featuring Spanish artist David Bisbal. This newest version is the one that Coca-Cola will be using for their 2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup marketing campaign and waaaaay less cheesy.

Mixtape: J. Period & K’Naan – The Messengers

Posted by Matt | Posted in Music | Posted on 23-09-2009

Ok, ok, so I might have slept on all of the released leaks/tracks so far, but here’s the real deal and it’s pretty good. Don’t sleep on this (like I did).

Three weeks after introducing the first of their groundbreaking Messengers tributes, J.Period & K’NAAN present their final offering: The Messengers (Deluxe Edition), a long-play version of their epic trilogy, including previously unreleased bonus tracks and selected 12” singles. Taking hip hop fans on an unprecedented journey into the legacies of Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan, J.Period & K’NAAN’s The Messengers has racked up over 85,000 downloads/plays in only a few short weeks online, making this mixtape a bonafide phenomenon, as well. Remixing and re-imagining the classic work of these legendary artists, The Messengers is already being called “one of the year’s best albums or mixtapes” by top hip hop journalists, including HipHopDX.com.
