Stream: John Blu – Cologne ft. Gucci Mane & Twista

Posted by Matt | Posted in Music | Posted on 10-11-2010

John Blu

Hailing from the great city of Chicago, John Blu is a R&B artist signed at Jive Label that has been making quite a name for himself in the past year. In fact, you might have heard of his previous single if you’re running in those circles as In Love with Your Booty did fairly well. Still riding the wave from his previous release success, John Blu released a follow up single to keep the ball rolling, titled Cologne featuring none other than Gucci Mane and Twista.

I’d be on the lookout for this guy as he seems to be walking the right path. As we speak, John Blu can be seen opening for Usher on the American leg of his OMG Tour, adding the fact that he gets people like Gucci and Twista on his songs, it seems like every steps he makes is just another one in the right direction to crack that mainstream shell.

Video: Rick Ross – MC Hammer (ft. Gucci Mane)

Posted by Ryan | Posted in Music | Posted on 08-11-2010

It’s 2010 and Diddy is still dancing around in videos, making a fool of himself. You gotta respect that, he’s somehow outlived so many people in the industry just by having a scent for money and a need to show his face in important hip-hop videos. That’s right, Rick Ross is important (and so is Gucci). The guy has had a lot against him (from the whole him being an officer thing, the 50 Cent beef, to the real/fake sex tape scandals) and he still manages to come out on top with a bunch of songs that will probably be considered classic hip-hop in a few years. Maybe he spends more on ghost writers than his jewelry, but who knows. If Gucci’s spending that kind of money on ghost writers though, that’s a lot of cash going down the toilet. At least for his verse on this one.

Video/Mp3: Gucci Mane – What It’s Gonna Be

Posted by Ryan | Posted in Music | Posted on 31-10-2010

I’m feeling like Gucci’s fanbase is split into two groups: the one’s who know him by his big singles and the ones who know him for his mixtape music. If you’re of the former, download some of his mixtapes because you’ll quickly become the ladder. “Gucci Time” isn’t cutting it when you’ve got tracks like this still being made; his classic flow overtop one of those oldschool dark beats that he should be known by everyone for.

I know this is off The Appeal, but it’s the closest we get to some good ol’ gooch. No homo/pause/etc. Oh and two things: what is the actual title of this song? “What It’s Gonna Be”, “What’s It Gonna Be” or “What It Gon’ Be”? And stop it with the worldstarhiphop.com watermarks, shit looks as stupid as when you rip a video with those trial versions of dvd programs.

Mixtape: Anamanagucci Mane

Posted by Ryan | Posted in Music | Posted on 29-10-2010

This is the kind of shit I can always get behind. Equal amounts of nerdery, thuggery, and stupidity. Anamanaguchi are, I guess by default, the world’s biggest chiptune band (as in they create original music that sounds like it’s from the coolest non-existent video games). Gucci Mane is Atlanta’s sludge, drunk rap poster boy who creates the kind of music that makes a choir boy want to run the risk of getting DUIs and warranted for a bunch of other arrests just so they can drive around drunk and high with hookers in a yellow Lamborghini they stole from a local dealership. What the fuck, I know, right? Oh, and apparently these are just mashes done by “ROCKAFELLER, RIPPS, BUKOWSKI LLC”, as the tags say on my Itunes. I don’t think I need to even sell this, you’re either going to listen to this for sure or not. Internet thugs, wuddup tho’?

Video: Gucci Mane – It’s Gucci Time (ft. Swizz Beatz)

Posted by Ryan | Posted in Music | Posted on 07-09-2010

The thing I love about this song is that it creates a connection between Gucci Mane La Flare and Dario Argento. Argento is a horror film pioneer, the main man behind the Italian subgenre of Giallo, one of his best films being Tenebre. Tenebre is scored by the amazing rock band and horror movie composers, Goblin. Goblin wrote a wonderful theme for Tenebre, which was sampled by Justice for “Phantom Pt. II”. “Phantom Pt. II” is the source of Gucci Mane’s “It’s Gucci Time” half-second sample looped throughout the entire song. What a fucked up, wonderful world.

Mp3: Wale – Pretty Girls ft. Gucci Mane

Posted by Matt | Posted in Music | Posted on 28-07-2009

Once again, let me start this post by saying that I’m not a fan of Gucci Mane, at all. Maybe you caught on the opinion on that Mariah Carey remix post from last week, but man, does that bloke sucks or what? I have no clue how he keeps getting music out there, and why Wale, of all people, would want to throw a track with him.

I suspect Wale of knowing that he’s getting on tracks with more than questionable artists (ie. Kermit The FrogLady GaGa, Gucci Mane), because when that happens, he always releases the featureless track a couple of weeks before the final version drops, which is always better than the final one. Though, while the his choices of featuring might be questionable, I can’t deny the fact that it gives him major exposure to the mainstream audience, which is probably why he’s getting on track with people like them.

The real question is if it’s Wale’s label masterplan, or is it it’s own?

Video: Mariah Carey – Obsessed ft. Gucci Mane

Posted by Matt | Posted in Music | Posted on 24-07-2009

Yeah, I’m not really sure why I’m even posting something related to Gucci Mane, but Miss Carey thought that the remix was important enough to have it’s own video … which is basically a redux of the official one, with scenes of her laying on a table with Gucci Mane spitting the most horrible verse in recent history.

Gucci Mane is trash, there I said it, and like november3leven said in the comments over at NahRight:

how do these wack azz niggas get on (nh)…like how does a A&R or record exec listens to a Gucci/OJ da Juiceman (smfh @ the name) verse/song and with a straightface give these niggas record contracts….they gotta be thinking “damn this shit is gaabage….but its selling like a mafucka”

[Mp3] Lil Wayne – We Be Steady Mobbin’ ft. Gucci Mane

Posted by Matt | Posted in Music | Posted on 11-06-2009

I’m not a big Gucci Mane fan, actually I don’t like him at all, but Weezy & the beat make up for it. Weezy actually sound like he did circa Carter II, but with some autotune thrown into the mix.
