Montreal own and soon to be France bound, Coeur de Pirate, does her own rendition of Phoenix track, Lasso, off their latest album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix during one of her show at l’Olympia of France.

So we’re already six months in 2009 and well into the seventh … here’s a little shortlist of what I thought best of what was released so far (in no particular order). I know Top 30 might seems like an odd number, but I just wrote down songs off the top of my head and it ended up around 28, so i added 2 more to reach 30. You might also notice that I play around with the release dates of the songs, some of them leaked in 2008 and are still on the list, because they were officially released in 2009 and so on … anyway, here it is in no particular order.

I know I already posted a similar video of the same artist covering the same song, but I’m always amazed everytime I hear Coeur de Pirate rendition of Umbrella, so here it is again.

Taken from Coeur de Pirate tour in France where she was opening for French sensation Julien Doré (that dude who was singing Baby One More Time of Britney Spears & Like A Virgin of Madonna on French American Idol). They came together and did a rendition of Rihanna’s Umbrella with Julien playing the yukulele.

Ça méritait presque qu’un post en français ahah.

After taking on Rihanna’s song, Umbrella, Coeur de Pirate takes on Katy Perry hit single I Kissed A Girl.

This is a one-take recording I did in my bedroom, I just just learned the song yesterday. Laughs garanteed.

I have to say that I didn’t find it very amusing, but I thought it was pretty good AH. And the fact that she recorded it in her bedroom makes her voice sounds like there was some auto-tune action going on. Very Weezy-like.

Coeur de Pirate is currently touring in France.

A little bit more love for Coeur de Pirate, but this time the other way around. Three girls from Melbourne uses an ukulele and a piano to do a pretty good rendition of Comme Des Enfants.

Once again, I just can’t front … apart from a couple of hiccups, the rendition of Rihanna’s Umbrella sounds pretty good coming out of Montreal’s own Coeur de Pirate.

I really wonder if anyone is still rooting for Chris Brown in that whole CB / Rihanna story …

Here’s a remix of Montreal very own Béatrice Martin song Comme Des Enfants that I stumbled onto earlier today. Remixed by Le Matos. Can’t front, it sound kinda good.
