Before I’ll start talking about this next single, let’s do a rundown of what you readers are thinking after reading the blog title:
”WTF?!”
”Dude, Taylor Swift DOSEN’T have the greatest videos of all time”
”Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber…and now Taylor Swift?!”
Okay now that you boys and girls are satisfied with this minute of complaints, let me explain why I had the guts to talk about Taylor Swift. First of all, I don’t like country music. The whole weird Western/Texas accent just makes me wanna punch a wall and the lyrics are always based on riding a horse and have good times with your pals at the tavern. However, I used to like Shania Twain because it was the beginning of what I call pop/country (currently new-country) but then it took a while for someone new to step up in this category…then Taylor came. I mean come on! How can you hate those bright blue eyes and blond hair? Dosen’t make you wanna grab her cheeks and squeez them? Anyways, I think she’s good and I’ll keep my foot on the floor.
After many prestigious awards includiing 4 Grammys for her album Fearless released in 2008, the innocent yet impossible to hate Taylor Swift was on top of the country industry and became the youngest artist ever to win Country Music Association Award for Entertainer of the year, and is one of only six women to win Country Music Association’s highest honor. Two intense years has ”swift-ed”and she’s back with her first single from her upcoming album Speak Now hitting stores on October 25th.

Lo-fi, independent art is always more appealing to those who have a scent for talent.
Elliott Smith’s self-titled couldn’t album be less in your face, but his proficiency at making even a weathered man want to cry is undeniable; El Mariachi, being paid for with the money out of Robert Rodriguez’s pocket, bleeds talent. These are the kind of works of art that deserve every bit of appreciation from their fanbase.
“Lights, Cameras, Action” gets its sun-bleached video treatment which isn’t much new in concept, but in quality it’s kind of fascinating. The vimeo page credits him as the director, and another dude for “shooting with a macbook”. So these guys literally just jumped around in an alleyway, one of them holding a laptop and throwing it around like a video camera. It sounds silly to describe, but it’s pretty fun to see done on his level. This is something we can definitely appreciate.

I know, I know, there’s been a couple of posts with tagged tracks as of late, but as much as I hate tagged version, I just cannot ignore them… plus we always update the post with the CDQ as soon as it drops. Anyway, YoungMoneyHD premiered little CuDi’s song on their latest mixtape and it’s possibly going to appear on it’s upcoming album, Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Cee-Lo Green single, F**k You, has easily become one of my favorite song of the year as even with an upbeat rhythm that could make Outkast jealous, the song is raw as hell. A budget lyrical video came out with the release of the single a couple of weeks back, but we were promised a full fledged video for it in the upcoming weeks and it finally arrived this morning. Enjoy.
Oh and yeah, his album might still be far away, but if he drops singles anything like this up to the release of his album, I can bare the wait. The Lady Killer is set to drop on December 7th.

It took awhile to get released, but it’s finally here… Hosted by Don Cannon himself, Big Sean finally unleashed his new mixtape, Finally Famous Vol. 3 and I can safely say that it was worth the wait. Now that we have Vol. 3, we’re back at playing the waiting game for his debut album coming out in a couple of weeks, September 14th, to be more precise.

This came out a week ago or something, but I’ve been so so busy all around lately… So NYC indie-rocker Interpol released the Moh Azima directed visuals for the lead single (technically second if you count Lights), Barricade, of their upcoming self-titled album.
The album is set to drop on September 7th, but it’s been on the internet for a little bit. I have yet to listen to it’s entirety, but I’ve heard that it was so-so… I guess everyone can make up their own opinions about the album, but the mass consensus of the Interpol fan is that it’s not as good as they hoped for, but like I said, everybody has different taste and I can say that my friends who went at their concert in Montreal a couple of weeks ago were blown away.

Kanye is on a damn roll lately, after unleashing his latest release with the first peek of his collaborative album with Hov this past Friday with Monster, Yeezy drops another one on us with his very own remix of Justin Bieber single, Runaway Love.
The news of him working with Justin Bieber has been in talk for a little bit, but to be honest not that surprising… especially after hearing the song as it reminds me of when they made that CuDi song from a GaGa acoustic recording. What was surprising though, was the fact that he got got Raekwon on the track, making the addition of the Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nothing To F*ck Wit sample just plain fitting for the occasion.

Here’s some good shit. This is what dorm room hipster-hoppers should look up to and really aspire to sound like. Not that Somewhere Else falls into that category, it’s just that you can tell it’s the true intentions of artists like Sammy Adams and any artist who both checks 2 Dope Boyz every 15 minutes and weighs under 145 pounds. Somewhere Else sure as hell have their own sound, and it’s a force to be reckoned with. I’m still going through this mixtape as we speak, but anything that Odd Future cosigns, you should as well. And you should cosign Odd Future while you’re at it, because they’re killing it. Why the fuck haven’t I posted more on them? Enjoy Somewhere Else’s spankin’ new mixtape while I work on 10 more Odd Future posts.

After a huge success with his first single OMG in is album Raymond V Raymond, Usher is a ”must” in today’s nightlife music list. Now, he’s bringing a new single from his next album Versus. In a short amount of time after the released of this single to iTunes on July 13 and the music video on August 25th, this hit song, DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love, became the fourth highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100 of his career, behind 1997′s Nice & Slow at number nine, 1998′s My Way at eight, and 2010′s OMG at number fourteen. Of course with Pitbull’s featuring, this song will keep his position on the charts for a while since the same thing is happening with Enrique’s new single I Like It. Is Pitbull becoming the new secret ingredient for today’s hit? We’ll see.
